1. Have a good skincare routine.  Wash your face every morning and night with a cleanser that’s made for your skin type.  Use a balanced toner or witch hazel after cleansing and moisturize as needed.
2. Use SPF every day, several times a day when outside playing or at the beach.  The sun’s damaging rays account for 80% of aging and can cause dark scaring were blemishes are exposed.  And the worst kind of “sun” exposure are tanning beds! Stay away from them!
3. Don’t pick at your face.  Your fingers carry bacteria and can make a blemish worse.  You can even spread bacteria under the skin when you pop a pimple and it doesn’t empty completely.  If you have a lot of breakouts and blackheads, I suggest getting a facial from a professional who knows how to extract them properly.  Keeping your hands off your face will save you from unnecessary scaring and aggravation.
4. Keep your makeup clean.  That means only you can use it, don’t share with your friends!  Wash your makeup brushes and sponges regularly.  Bacteria loves to grow on makeup and the oil from our skin attracts it even more.  Mineral makeup is a better choice because it will not allow bacteria to proliferate, hence it is “cleaner”!
5.Keep your pillow case clean.  Oils from your face and hair build up on your pillow, so change it often.
6. Be careful with hair conditioner.  It is made of synthetic oil and waxes and is made to coat your hair to make it feel soft, but it can also coat your skin and clog your pores.  Try to keep it off your hairline and off your back.  When you shower, wash your face and body AFTER you rinse the conditioner so it’s washed off your body completely.
7. Avoid foods with high iodine.  It’s been linked to cause and exacerbate acne.  Foods like potato chips, fast food, canned soups, etc. are all known to have high salt levels which means high iodine as well.
8.  Eat foods high in vitamin A, vitamin C, zinc, and magnesium.  Spinach, kale, broccoli, goji berries, blueberries, and apricots are all good choices.  Basically, try to eat as many fresh fruits and vegetables as possible.  They carry the necessary nutrients for your body to make healthy glowing skin. Taking supplements can be a good addition to your diet as well.
9. Limit caffeine, soda pop, refined sugar in your diet.  They disrupt your body’s process of getting rid of toxins properly, and instead they can be eliminated through the skin.
10. Be your beautiful self!  No one else has your uniqueness, no one can be you! Confidence and a big smile can be the most attractive thing on your face, so wear it often!
